Crowdfund London 2018
20 June 2018
The Mayor of London has announced a new round of Crowdfund London, which offers funding of up to £50,000 from the LEAP offered to match crowdfunding campaigns launched by organisations seeking to deliver civic improvement projects.
Crowdfund London gives anyone the chance to pitch new ideas to help make their communities and local area better. The programme uses new technology to help people come together to create, fund and launch local initiatives that can have a big social and civic impact.
What you need to know:
- Communities need to come together to create something new and exciting to benefit the whole neighbourhood. You can access resources and guidance here.
- The Greater London Authority is holding events to introduce the offer and help you plan. Get an up-to-date list of workshops & sign up here.
- Groups need to be ready to run a crowdfunding campaign and pitch to our fund on Spacehive by 3rd September. The Mayor will pledge to campaigns towards the end of October and if all goes well, cash will be available to start projects at the beginning of 2019.
- We will only pledge up to £50,000 and no more than 75% of the total project cost, so groups will need to raise at least 25% from the rest of the ‘crowd’ – people, businesses, pubic funders and so on – but the campaign should be about showing local commitment.
