LEAP Roundtable on Supporting Asian and Middle Eastern Women Entrepreneurs in London
14 December 2018
On 12 December, LEAP hosted a roundtable with Asian and Middle Eastern women entrepreneurs. Chaired by London Business Partnership co-founder, Naima Omasta-Milsom, the roundtable was an opportunity to hear about the challenges that these entrepreneurs face when setting up and growing their businesses. The entrepreneurs provided a range of recommendations how the Mayor and the LEAP, via the London Growth Hub, can support these communities. Discussion included the lack of role models, need for case studies and challenges in accessing funding.
Deputy Mayor, Rajesh Agrawal and Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz OBE were also in attendance and provided insight into the issues being discussed that morning.
Recommendations from participants to the Mayor and the LEAP will be fed into our upcoming and current programmes and the roundtable attendees will meet again in Spring 2019 to discuss progress.
This was the second in a series of roundtables that the LEAP will be holding over the next few months. Future roundtables will be held with entrepreneurs of the LGBT and disabled communities. More information regarding these roundtables will be shared soon.
