LEAP seeks Business Support Advisers for London Growth Hub

24 January 2017

LEAP is seeking to appoint an organisation or consortium to deliver a time-limited project to provide business support to SMEs and individuals looking to start a business.

The aim of the project is to give SMEs and pre-starts a taster of how business support can help them identify and address the challenges they face. Often SMEs – especially the smallest businesses and pre-starts - have little or no knowledge of business support programmes and rely on word of mouth or their accountants to find out how to develop or grow their businesses. The London Growth Hub aims to raise awareness of the wider offer available to small businesses, and this project will supplement the London Growth Hub’s online resource through a series of masterclasses and one to one business support sessions.

The project will run for a three month period from March 2017 and the masterclasses and one to one sessions will take place in a selection of co-working spaces.

The London Growth Hub

Growth Hubs are funded by central government via the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and delivered as regional public/private sector partnerships led by Local Enterprise Partnerships. They join up national and local business support so it is easy for businesses to find the help they need. There are 38 hubs, one for each LEP region. In addition to providing a co-ordination function, each regional growth hub provides a different type of support, tailored to the needs of businesses in its region.

Launched in November 2016, the London Growth Hub’s aim is to bring together the capital's vast business support offer into a single online resource (https://www.growthhub.london). The site also aims to become a forum for SMEs and business support providers to exchange information and develop new networks.

As London’s Growth Hub matures, a range of new initiatives will be developed and implemented. This project is the first of these initiatives and will complement the online service by providing face to face business support.
