LEAP - North East London Engagement Event
09 March 2018
The London Economic Action Partnership kicked off the new year with our latest round of Sub-Regional Stakeholder Engagement Events. The events gave us the opportunity to let stakeholders and businesses know about the work we have been doing to help business growth in the capital. The events also gave us the chance to find out what our stakeholders want from the Economic Development Strategy, and the Government’s proposed Industrial Strategy.
The event plenary session highlighted the work we are doing to help London to grow and develop, such as the Digital Skills Programme, the Good Growth Fund and providing free business support via the London Growth Hub.
The event workshops included discussion surrounding the LEAP’s work to help London become the best city in the world for business.
- The Greater London Authority’s SME Team delivered a dynamic workshop on the London Growth Hub’s business support offer and what can be done to ensure that we support London’s entrepreneurs as best we can.
- The GLA’s Innovation and Strategy Team delivered workshops that fed into the Mayor’s draft Economic Development Strategy (EDS). The workshop also covered the Industrial Strategy white paper published in November 2017, and was used a platform to find out what attendees believed should be in their local industrial strategies.
- The GLA’s Team London delivered an interesting workshop providing insight into the importance of skills development for young Londoners and how to help young people kickstart their careers.
Team London is the Mayor of London’s volunteering programme. It supports 2,000 charitable organisations, works with over 100 businesses to recognise the importance of volunteering for their staff and the next generation, and provides thousands of opportunities for Londoners to become active citizens and give back to their local area. Team London deliver the London Enterprise Adviser Network, a social mobility programme that matches senior business volunteers with careers leaders in schools on behalf of LEAP.
