Small Sites, Small Builders
Launched in February 2018 the Small Sites, Small Builders programme has been possible by by £13.4m of the LEAP's Growth Deal 3 funding. The programme makes it easier for the public sector to bring forward small sites for residential-led development by SMEs.
London’s homebuilding sector is dominated by a small number of large developers that build the majority of homes across the capital, with the number of small builders delivering fewer than 100 homes having halved over the last 10 years. The LEAP has identified helping such SMEs to bring forward homes in London as a key priority.
So far £200k has been spent, 10 sites have been brought to market and 157 homes are proposed.
London Community Land Trust
London Community Land Trust was chosen to deliver flagship community-led housing on two sites brought forward by Transport for London as part of the pilot programme of ‘Small Sites, Small Builders’.
London Community Land Trust’s bids focused on the needs of the local community, creating permanently affordable homes and demonstrated high quality design.
